The ReDefine Pledge

Signed, on the record, and kept in public

A business should say what it stands for, so here is where mine does. This page is the public pledge of ReDefine Communications to support increasing political efficacy and civic engagement in Mid-Missouri. Nobody is asked to sign anything. The signature at the bottom is mine.

that’s it. that’s the pledge. one promise, kept in public.

What I mean by that

political efficacy

The belief that your voice matters, and the skill to use it. Most people who sit out of public life were taught, somewhere along the way, that nothing they said would change anything. I think that is wrong, I think it can be untaught, and I think a business that talks for a living should help unteach it.

civic engagement

Showing up for the place you live. Voting in the small elections, speaking at the meeting, knowing who represents you, and helping your neighbors do the same. It is unglamorous work, and it is what actually decides what a town becomes.

A pledge you won’t stand behind in public isn’t a pledge, it’s a slogan. So hold me to this one. If you ever catch this business falling short of its own wall, tell me directly: dustin@redefinecommunications.com.
